When most people think of pottery, they think of people working behind the pottery wheel, but that’s just one way of doing things. Any techniques that’s done off the potter wheel can be considered hand-building. In our Hand-Building classes we teach pinch pots, coiling, slab-building, and a few other techniques too. In our Wheel-Throwing classes, everything is made on the potters wheel.
-
Our private hand-building classes are perfect for small groups up to 7 people. This class is great for any skill level and age. Book with you and your kids, or as a date night with your sweetie, get all the coworkers together, or take a class wih visiting family, help celebrate your kids next birthday with a class just for them. The possibilities are really endless.

At the beginning of each class your intructor will go over the different options for glazes. We have several popular colors you can choose from, or if you’re taking a hand-building class, you can leave time at the end of class to hand-paint your own surface designs. Whether you’re painting your pottery or choosing a color for us to glaze, once your finish work is back to you it will be glazed in a food-safe, non-toxic, lead free glaze that is dishwasher and microwave safe.

Your pottery will be ready for pick-up or shipment within 3-5 weeks after your class. Pottery has to go through 4 main steps before it becomes safe to have a home; drying (this takes about a week), bisque firing (3 days in the kiln), applying the glaze (we’re usually glazing around 50 pieces at once, so it can take time), glaze firing (3 days in the kiln), then to you!
